Headway Books Shipped to Chad
The first shipment of Headway English Language books for the Darfur refugees in Chad leave London's Heathrow Airport. Pictured are Brian Godfrey of Air France, and his team of handlers, who ensured a speedy delivery to the Chadian capital N'Djamena, via Paris.
Air France generously waived all freight charges for CORD and Book Wish. CORD, our on-the-ground partner, regularly use the airline for their International staff to travel out to the refugee camps, and Air France's spokesperson said they were delighted to facilitate the consignment's safe delivery to Africa.
Now that the books have arrived in Chad, they are making their way to the refugee camps in the remote eastern part of the country, near the border with Sudan. We will update when they arrive in the camps.
A second shipment is planned, as soon as sufficient funds are raised. To make a donation earmarked for Headway books, click here. Headway's publisher, Oxford University Press, allows us to purchase the books at cost, meaning that each dollar you donate is worth nearly seven dollars of books.
